Constanța Museum of Popular Art hosts heritage exhibitions
The Constanța Museum of Popular Art is hosting two cultural events focused on Romanian heritage. From August 15 to 30, the museum will present an exhibition titled ‘Princess Ileana – Dobrogea, the Sea and Romanian Popular Costume (1915-1945)’. Utilizing items from the Georgian Anghel private collection, the exhibition features photographs, documents, and philatelic pieces to reconstruct the life of Princess Ileana. The display highlights her connection to the Dobrogea region, her passion for navigation, and her respect for national identity through traditional attire. Notably, she was the first woman to receive an honorary officer rank in the Romanian Royal Navy.
Additionally, the museum is organizing a ‘Popular Craftsmen’ Fair’ from August 14 to 16. This event is part of the ‘Living Heritage’ project and aims to showcase the evolution of traditional crafts, including wood processing, pottery, glass painting, and beadwork. Participating artisans from various regions, such as Dâmbovița, Suceava, and Vâlcea, will demonstrate skills in creating items like hand-carved crosses, decorated wooden spoons, and traditional household furniture.
