Constanța to host ballet gala honoring Oleg Danovski

The Casa de Cultură a Sindicatelor in Constanța will host a gala performance of “Swan Lake” on November 7, 2026, to honor the memory of Oleg Danovski, 30 years after his passing.

Danovski, known as the “Conductor of Swans,” was a foundational figure in Romanian ballet who established the ballet theater in Constanța. The production will be performed by the Ballet Ensemble of the National Opera Bucharest. While the original direction and choreography were created by Danovski, this production features adaptation and staging by Oleg Danovski Jr. The event serves as a symbolic return of Danovski’s artistic legacy to Constanța, where he originally included the work in his Tchaikovsky trilogy in 1978.
