Constantine hosts 10th International Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics
The 10th International Congress of the Association of Private Gynecologists and Obstetricians of Constantine (AGOPC) recently concluded in Algeria. The three-day event brought together over 400 specialists from Algeria and abroad, including experts from Egypt and France, to discuss advancements in women's health.
Key themes included medically assisted procreation (MAP), ultrasound, and endoscopy. Discussions focused on improving infertility diagnosis and treatment, with a specific emphasis on preserving the uterine cavity to support spontaneous pregnancy or IVF success. Experts highlighted the transition toward less invasive techniques, such as replacing monopolar current with bipolar current in hysteroscopy.
In addition to fertility, the congress addressed cervical cancer prevention through HPV vaccination and early detection via Pap smears. Dr. Mohamed Boukerrou, president of the association, noted that the growth of specialized centers in Algeria is increasingly allowing couples to access MAP techniques locally, reducing the need to seek medical care abroad.
