Constantine Orbelian receives Santakos Honor Sign in Kaunas
Constantine Orbelian, the chief conductor of the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, has been awarded the 1st-degree Santakos Honor Sign. This is one of the highest honors bestowed by the city of Kaunas.
Orbelian, a world-renowned conductor and pianist with four Grammy nominations, has led the orchestra since 2012. Under his leadership, the ensemble has achieved international recognition through high-level musical projects and performances by world-class soloists such as Renée Fleming and Asmik Grigorian.
Key milestones during his tenure include the orchestra's performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Requiem’ during Kaunas’s term as the European Capital of Culture in 2022, and various international broadcasts via the ARTE channel.
