Constanza and La Vega organizations host seminar on corporate criminal liability

The Constanza Ecotourism Cluster and the Chamber of Commerce and Production of La Vega held a seminar titled ‘The criminal responsibility of companies in the new Penal Code’ to guide the business sector on the implications of the Dominican penal framework.

Led by criminal lawyer Luz Díaz Rodríguez, the session emphasized the necessity of establishing effective compliance programs and internal controls to prevent, detect, and respond to potential infractions. The presentation highlighted that prevention must be integrated into daily management through clear rules of conduct, staff training, and procedures for investigating irregularities.

Key takeaways included the requirement for compliance programs to be functional and evidenced in practice, rather than existing merely as manuals. The initiative also addressed micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, advocating for prevention strategies tailored to their specific size and risks to promote a culture of transparency and responsibility.
