Constanze Oehlrich faces harassment allegations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Constanze Oehlrich, the parliamentary group leader for the Green Party in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is facing allegations of sexual harassment involving a male employee twelve years her junior. According to research by 'Welt', the employee claims Oehlrich confessed her love in 2022 and continued to make advances for several years despite his lack of reciprocation. The employee has provided an affidavit confirming these details.

The situation has led to significant political fallout. Oehlrich, who was originally intended to lead the Green Party as a top candidate for the upcoming state election, has been removed from the state list. However, she currently retains her position as parliamentary group leader.

Additionally, deputy group leader Hannes Damm was excluded from the group after reportedly supporting the affected employee. Damm is currently pursuing legal action regarding his exclusion. The Green Party faction has denied the allegations, though the state executive board has acknowledged receiving criticism from an anti-discrimination office regarding the handling of the matter.
