Constitution Week observed through local proclamations and educational activities

Various communities are observing Constitution Week from September 17 to 23, commemorating the anniversary of the drafting of the United States Constitution.

In Cullman, Mayor Woody Jacobs issued a proclamation recognizing the week and encouraging residents to reflect on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. Members of the Dripping Springs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) participated in the recognition. The DAR has been instrumental in promoting this observance since 1955, when they petitioned Congress to designate this period for commemoration.

In Shelton, the Plumb Memorial Library is hosting activities to engage children with the document's history. The library's children's section features a DAR-sponsored display, and the facility is launching a monthly book club that includes a mock election to introduce children to the concept of voting.
