Constitutional Court of North Macedonia to review eight legal initiatives

The Constitutional Court of North Macedonia is convening its 24th session to review eight initiatives regarding the constitutionality and legality of various laws and provisions.

One key initiative, filed by lawyer Goran Nikoloski, challenges Article 461 of the Law on Civil Procedure. This provision mandates mediation as a prerequisite for legal proceedings in disputes between legal entities where the value is up to 1,000,000 denars. Nikoloski argues this creates an unjustified barrier to judicial protection.

Other matters on the agenda include: - An initiative by Slavko Dimitrov regarding Article 157 of the Criminal Code, concerning moral copyrights and author autonomy. - Two initiatives by Klimentina Angeleska regarding the Law on Protection of Children, which she claims are discriminatory toward rights related to the first, second, and third newborn children. - An initiative by Oliver Davidovski challenging conditions for entry into the Register of Lawyers and provisions within the Law on Free Legal Aid.
