Constitutional Court President reports 99.9% implementation of violation decisions

Kadir Özkaya, President of the Constitutional Court of Turkey, announced that 99.9 percent of the 86,849 violation decisions issued by the court since 2013 have been implemented. He shared these statistics during a symposium held to mark the 14th anniversary of the introduction of the individual application right to the Turkish legal system.

Özkaya noted that since the implementation of individual applications on September 23, 2012, a total of 756,726 applications have been made to the High Court, with 648,410 having been concluded. He emphasized that the individual application system has strengthened the role of constitutional justice in protecting fundamental rights against the actions or omissions of public power.

Addressing judges and prosecutors, Özkaya stressed the necessity of acting with justice and fairness. He reminded legal professionals of the symbolic meaning of their robes, which lack buttons and pockets, as a reminder to act without personal interest or bias.
