CHP announces congress schedule and waives legal appeal

The Republican People's Party (CHP) has announced its official congress schedule following a period of legal and leadership transitions. Party Spokesperson Müslim Sarı confirmed that the process began in September, with membership lists set to be posted for suspension on October 28.

The timeline includes district delegate elections on November 11, district congresses starting December 12, and provincial congresses beginning January 16, 2027. All provincial and district congresses are expected to conclude by February 14, 2027, after which the Party Assembly will set a date for the grand ordinary convention.

Notably, the CHP has decided to waive its previous appeal against the Ankara Regional Court of Justice's 'absolute nullity' ruling regarding its 38th Ordinary Congress. This decision was made to prevent delays in the regular congress schedule. The waiver follows the resignation of Özgür Özel and his team to form the YENİ Party, which removed them as parties to the appeal. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was reinstated as leader following the court's decision, remains a central figure in discussions regarding future leadership and potential alliance candidates.
