Constitutional Court rules on civil servant retiree pension increases

The Constitutional Court (AYM) has issued a critical ruling regarding the pension rights of civil servant retirees. The Court's Commission determined that an individual application filed by Honorary Member of the Court of Cassation Seyfettin Çilesiz is admissible.

The case concerns the failure to apply the flat-rate increase granted to active civil servants in 2023 to their retirees. Following the decision of admissibility, the file has been forwarded to the Chamber to be decided on its merits.

Legal counsel for the applicant, Ali Erdem Gündoğan, stated that the decision is a positive signal for retirees. He noted that due to the 39-month delay in implementing these payments, retirees have been receiving approximately 25,000 lira less per month, resulting in a total cumulative loss exceeding 1 million lira.
