Constitutional Court rulings in Dominican Republic and Ecuador
In the Dominican Republic, the Constitutional Court rejected a resource filed by Dekolor, SRL seeking to compel Intrant to pay approximately RD$669.9 million. The court ruled that the Budget Law does not constitute an individualized payment order for the company. The court noted that while the company claims arrears from 2024 and 2025, budget allocations are institutional appropriations and do not serve as a direct mandate for payment to private entities. The ruling specifies that the company may still pursue its claims through administrative litigation.
In Ecuador, the Electoral Contentious Tribunal (TCE) upheld the disqualification of Juan Carlos Silva Nowak from running for Mayor of Samborondón. This decision confirms the National Electoral Council's previous ruling, leaving only two confirmed candidates for the municipal administration: María José Agusto of the Centro Democrático movement and Niels Olsen of Acción Democrática Nacional (ADN). Silva Nowak stated that his legal issues stem from ongoing investigations by the UAFE.
