Constitutional Court sets date for Ajola Xoxha's appeal

The Constitutional Court of Albania has scheduled November 24 to review a complaint filed by Ajola Xoxha, wife of the Mayor of Tirana, and the firm Partners Law. The appeal seeks to overturn three lower court decisions regarding the seizure of mobile phones by the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK).

The case stems from investigations conducted in December 2024, during which the National Investigation Bureau seized devices. While Ajola Xoxha has maintained her innocence and requested the return of the phones and documents, previous rulings from the Special Court of First Instance, the Court of Appeal, and the Criminal College of the Supreme Court had rejected these requests.

The upcoming plenary session will evaluate whether SPAK’s methods of conducting searches and seizing devices over the last four years have complied with constitutional standards, following a previous ruling involving journalist Elton Qyno regarding freedom of expression and device seizure.
