Constitutional Court to review amnesty appeals for Catalan leaders
The Spanish Constitutional Court is set to begin reviewing appeals from independence leaders regarding the application of the amnesty law. The proceedings are centered on a challenge filed by Jordi Turull, the general secretary of Junts, against the Supreme Court's decision to exclude embezzlement convictions from the amnesty benefits.
Magistrate José María Macías has proposed a report supporting the Supreme Court's restrictive interpretation, arguing that embezzlement remains an exception under the current law.
