Constitutional Democratic Party challenges Prime Minister Takaichi in Diet

The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDP) has intensified its questioning of Prime Minister Takaichi during Diet sessions. During a House of Councillors plenary session, CDP Secretary-General Tanabe Masayo raised 22 items for inquiry, including disaster relief for Kumamoto, agricultural support regarding rice prices, climate change, and diplomatic issues involving the ICC and US-Japan relations.

CDP leadership expressed dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister's responses, alleging that Takaichi provided ambiguous information regarding funding and failed to address specific agricultural policies. Additionally, the party continues to demand accountability from the Prime Minister regarding the appointment of Minister Yana, citing concerns over the Minister's qualifications and previous statements.

In a recent standing executive committee meeting, CDP Leader Mizuoka Shunichi emphasized the need for substantive policy debate and urged the Prime Minister to provide clear answers. The party also discussed proposals regarding the temporary reduction of consumption tax on food and the introduction of support funds for workers.
