Constitutional Democratic Party reviews consumption tax reduction policies

The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan held a joint meeting of its Tax Research Committee and its Social Security and Employment System Reform Research Committee on October 6 to review the party’s stance on consumption tax reductions and support payments.

Tax Research Committee Chair Hiroto Kumagai reported that the party's approach had been presented to regional policy leaders and received general approval without significant objection. Social Security and Employment System Reform Research Committee Chair Michihiro Ishibashi noted that regional representatives requested specific measures to support those in difficult circumstances, including workers in medical and nursing care, non-regular employees, and public service sectors.

The party plans to finalize its position on these tax and support measures and report them to the Standing Executive Committee on October 7.
