Constitutional Tribunal officials face criminal charges in Poland
The Polish National Prosecutor's Office has brought criminal charges against the Director of the Constitutional Tribunal's Office. The charges include abuse of authority and failure to fulfill duties under the Penal Code. The Constitutional Tribunal has strongly contested the allegations, labeling them “absurd” and based on “fabricated legal grounds,” while describing the prosecution's actions as an “attack on a constitutional state organ.”
The investigation has expanded to include other officials within the institution. Piotr P., the Commandant of the Tribunal Guard, faces charges for allegedly abusing his authority by restricting the movement and dignity of judges within the building. Additionally, Zofia H. has been charged with preventing judges from performing their official duties and violating their labor rights.
The suspects have refused to plead guilty or provide explanations. As a result, the prosecutor has suspended the involved individuals from their professional duties pending the outcome of the investigation.
