Construction progresses on Lleida's Shopping Promenade commercial complex

Work on the Shopping Promenade commercial centre in Lleida, Spain, has moved into the foundation phase. Earth‑moving and the construction of foundations began on 1 June 2024, following the demolition of the abandoned Torre Salses urbanisation. The project, covering 56,000 m² and slated to open by the end of 2027, involves a temporary union of construction firms Romero Polo, Sorigué and Dragados. Promoters Eurofund (Madrid) and Frey (France) are financing the €145 million development, which will include 120 retail units, a cinema, bars, 2,300 parking spaces and about 20,000 m² of surrounding green areas with a thousand new trees.

The centre is expected to generate roughly 400 direct jobs and attract 5–6 million visitors each year, becoming the first large‑scale shopping complex in the city. The municipal council granted the building permit in September after a decade‑long approval process, and auxiliary road works will connect the site with the city centre.
