Construction closures disrupt traffic in Hagenacker and Oberhausen

In Hagenacker, Germany, a planned conversion of a road to a one‑way street has led to the closure of the stretch between Dietrich‑Benking‑Straße and house 36, with the adjacent Bussmannsfeld road also turned into a dead end. The change, decided in 2024, has been repeatedly delayed. Only line buses and cyclists are exempt. Residents report lengthy detours, heightened parking shortages and new traffic jams, with one neighbour saying, “It is an unfathomable detour and no one understands the purpose.”

In the city of Oberhausen, a popular bike and pedestrian route between Fahnhorststraße and Hugostraße/Harkorthstraße is blocked for six weeks during the summer holidays while the Jacobibahn line is widened and resurfaced. The Regionalverband Ruhr oversees the work, which also affects the connection between Osterfeld and Klosterhardt. The closure, intended to improve safety after several accidents, is scheduled to finish on 28 August, after which cyclists and walkers can resume using the route.
