Construction firm officials fined in Romania and detained in Moldova for illegal activities
In Satu Mară, Romania, a 37‑year‑old construction worker was sentenced on 5 June 2026 to a 7 000‑lei penalty after customs officers discovered stolen Hilti tools hidden in his luggage while he tried to bring them from France. The stolen items included two angle grinders, two rotary hammers, a drill, a charger station and four batteries.
In Moldova, police detained a construction company administrator on 6 June 2026 on suspicion of paying more than 170 foreign laborers “in envelope” and evading state taxes amounting to over 4 million lei.
