Construction of New Central de Abastos Miguel Hidalgo Near Zapotlán de Juárez Advances

The State Development Secretariat (Sedeco) announced that the new Central de Abastos Miguel Hidalgo (CAMH) in Zapotlán de Juárez is 30% complete. The first phase will include 150 warehouses and is slated to begin operations in June 2027, with a total plan of 500 spaces across three phases. Officials said the project does not yet involve relocating merchants from the existing Central de Abastos in Pachuca; Sedeco will only provide mediation and financing schemes for those who choose to move.

The current Pachuca market, with 220 stalls on 7.3 hectares, is considered outdated and non‑compliant with technical, logistical and environmental standards. State authorities are exploring converting the former site into a green public space, potentially a city park, after the new facility opens. The government will determine the future use of the vacated land through the state's Planning and Prospective Unit.
