Construction worker killed in Bivona wall collapse

A 53-year-old construction business owner, Salvino Pullara, died following a wall collapse at a worksite in Bivona, near Agrigento. The incident occurred in the Santa Margherita district near the Castello Dam while Pullara was performing work inside a private residence.

Pullara’s 24-year-old son was also injured in the collapse and was transported to the San Giovanni di Dio hospital in Agrigento; his condition is reported to be non-serious. Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate the elder Pullara, but were unsuccessful.

Carabinieri and firefighters attended the scene. Authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the wall failure and to verify whether workplace safety regulations were being followed at the site.
