Consum opens first owned supermarket in Ocaña, Toledo
The supermarket cooperative Consum has opened its first owned store in the province of Toledo, located in Ocaña. This new 1,350-square-meter facility marks a strategic expansion in the Castilla-La Mancha region, where the company now operates 96 establishments through its own stores and Charter franchises.
The opening has created 35 new jobs, primarily for residents of Ocaña and surrounding municipalities. The store features sustainable elements, including solar panels for self-consumption and a customer lounge area equipped with recycled furniture, microwaves, and a coffee maker.
This move is part of a broader growth strategy toward the center of the Iberian Peninsula. To support this expansion, Consum is investing in a major logistics platform in Noblejas. The 150,000-square-meter facility is expected to begin operations in early 2027 to bolster distribution in the region.
