Consumer advice for Polish shoppers on private labels and pricing rights

Consumers in Poland can find significant savings by opting for supermarket private labels, such as those from Biedronka and Lidl, which often feature identical ingredients and manufacturers as premium brands but at lower costs. For example, certain cream cheeses produced by Mlekpol are sold under Lidl’s Pilos brand for less than the equivalent branded version.

Regarding retail discrepancies, consumers have a legal right to purchase goods at the lower price displayed on the shelf if the checkout system reflects a higher amount. Under the Act on Informing about Prices of Goods and Services, the store is responsible for accurate labeling, and customers may demand the most favorable price in the event of a mismatch.
