Consumer electronics prices in India to rise from October 1
Major consumer electronics manufacturers in India are set to increase prices for home appliances starting October 1, ahead of the Dasara and Diwali festive shopping season. This marks the third round of price hikes for some companies in 2026.
Air conditioners (ACs) are expected to see the steepest increases, ranging from 5% to 8%. Other products, including washing machines, refrigerators, and LED TVs, may see price rises of approximately 3% to 4%. Some brands, such as Blue Star, Godrej Appliances, Haier, Daikin, and Super Plastronics, have already confirmed or announced hikes between 4% and 10% across various categories. LG and Bosch Home Comfort have also reportedly increased AC prices by about 5%, while Panasonic is currently evaluating the situation.
The price adjustments are driven by rising costs of essential raw materials, including copper, aluminum, steel, and crude oil derivatives. Manufacturers also cited increased freight costs and currency exchange volatility, partly linked to tensions in West Asia, as contributing factors.
While the hikes may impact demand, industry experts suggest the immediate effect on retail prices might be limited through the Diwali period, as many dealers and distributors hold existing inventory purchased at older, lower prices.
