Consumer fraud schemes and prevention efforts reported in France

Various consumer fraud schemes and prevention initiatives are being highlighted in France. In Mirande, France Services and Que Choisir Ensemble are organizing a free consumer meeting on September 18, 2026, to educate the public on protecting themselves against bank impersonation, fraudulent emails, phishing, and AI-driven scams.

Recent investigations by the program ‘Arnaques!’ on M6 have also exposed significant fraudulent activities. These include a travel scam in southern France where more than 300 people lost approximately 1.5 million euros to a fake booking platform. Additionally, a scam in Périgueux involving the sale of 70 motorhomes resulted in a loss of 3 million euros. Other reported issues include ‘wild parking’ scams at airports, where valet services damage vehicles or steal belongings.
