Vâlcea tourist complex caught paying 4.3 million lei in undeclared salaries

ANAF Antifraud inspectors have uncovered a major tax evasion scheme at a tourist complex in Vâlcea County. Investigations revealed that for nearly three years, between 2022 and 2025, the company paid 70 employees illegal, undeclared salaries.

Authorities discovered a double bookkeeping system, including an agenda used to record systematic informal payments. The total amount paid ‘under the table’ was estimated at 4.3 million lei. To hide these transactions, the company used accounting documents that presented unrealistic facts to avoid paying the corresponding taxes and social contributions.

Following the audit, ANAF recalculated the fiscal obligations, resulting in an additional 1.88 million lei in taxes. The company has since paid this amount in full to the state budget, acknowledging the findings. ANAF stated that such practices affect both state revenue and employees' rights to social protection, including pensions and medical services.
