Consumer safety alerts issued for food, heating products, and medications

Health and safety authorities in the United States and Mexico have issued multiple alerts regarding consumer products.

In the United States, the FDA has recalled GF Blends bread and pizza mixes because they were labeled gluten-free despite containing gluten, posing a risk to those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. Additionally, the CPSC announced a recall of over 190,000 JKMax heated blankets and pads sold on Amazon due to overheating risks that can cause burns or fires; the manufacturer reported approximately 500 incidents of smoke or melting, resulting in 50 injuries.

In Mexico, COFEPRIS issued warnings regarding the illegal sale and counterfeiting of several medications, including AGIN, Denoclast, Meropenem, and Sculptra. The agency also noted the voluntary recall of a specific lot of Sortec 200 mg due to detected anomalies.
