Consumer tests highlight top-performing budget fans
Recent consumer tests in Germany and Switzerland have evaluated various cooling fans, highlighting that high performance does not always require a high price point.
In Germany, IMTEST evaluated five tower fans, naming the Dreo TurboCool 765S as the test winner. This model features a water tank that produces fine mist in four adjustable strengths to enhance cooling. The device offers 12 airflow levels, ranging from a gentle breeze to a strong stream, and includes a 90-degree horizontal oscillation mode.
In Switzerland, a joint study by Kassensturz and Saldo tested ten pedestal fans. The Intertronic ‘Stand Fan’, an Interdiscount house brand priced at approximately 49.95 Swiss francs, was the only device to receive a ‘good’ rating. The testers praised its even airflow and relatively quiet operation. Other top performers included budget-friendly models from Proklima/Voltamat and Fertraso, demonstrating that more expensive alternatives did not necessarily outperform the cheaper options.
