Consumer tests reveal performance gaps in facial creams

Recent consumer tests by Altroconsumo and Öko-Test have evaluated the efficacy and safety of various facial creams, revealing significant differences between price and performance.

Altroconsumo tested nine moisturizing creams, ranking Clinians Hydra Plus Crema Idratante Leggera first with a score of 74/100. L’Oréal Paris Tripla Attiva and CeraVe also received good ratings. The study emphasized that effective hydration does not necessarily require expensive luxury brands.

In a separate investigation, the German magazine Öko-Test analyzed 32 anti-wrinkle products. The results showed that several high-end brands, including Lancôme and Yves Rocher, received insufficient ratings. The test highlighted concerns regarding potentially harmful preservatives and fragrances, such as galaxolide.

Furthermore, the Öko-Test report questioned the scientific validity of many anti-aging claims. While ingredients like hyaluronic acid provide hydration, the study noted they do not offer permanent skin rejuvenation. Many products failed to provide sufficient evidence to support their lifting or firming promises.
