Contact line falls on train at Stockholm Central, passengers stranded
A contact line fell onto a VR train at Stockholm Central Station, forcing the train to stop on track 11 and trapping passengers on board. The incident caused a total halt to both long‑distance and regional train services, affecting 27 trains and roughly 6,000 travelers.
VR spokesperson Pia Florén warned that the live wire could pose a danger to anyone exiting the train, while SJ press officer Johanna Jedenius confirmed the line was cleared by 20:00 and passengers were released shortly thereafter. The cause is suspected to be birds, though it has not been confirmed.
Service resumed with a replacement train after the fault was repaired, and normal traffic began to recover later in the evening.
