Contagem and Salvador adjust traffic for LGBT Pride parades

In Contagem, Minas Gerais, the 20th LGBT Pride Parade is scheduled for Sunday, 2 August. The event, organized by the Centro de Luta pela Livre Orientação Sexual de Minas Gerais (Cellos) with the city hall, will start at Praça da Glória and follow a route that includes Avenida Olímpio Garcia, João César de Oliveira, and several side streets before ending at Rua Necésio Tavares, where singer Johnny Hooker will perform. The municipal traffic agency Transcon has set up a special traffic scheme, temporary road closures, detours, and the suspension of nearby bus stops to ensure safety for the expected thousands of participants.

In Salvador, the Superintendência de Trânsito (Transalvador) announced weekend traffic alterations for several events. The 10th LGBTQI+ Parade in the Arraial do Retiro neighborhood will close Rua Soares Filho between the Bom Juá Metro Station and USF Antônio Ribeiro Neive from 15:00 to 21:30, with fixed and mobile barriers installed. The 23rd edition of the Forró Du Pezinho will block Rua Vicente Celestino and Praça Marechal Rondon from Saturday night into Sunday morning. A running event, “Sim! Bora Correr!”, will restrict traffic on Avenida Assis Valente in the Cajazeiras district early Sunday morning. All changes include signage and police support.
