João Pessoa police investigate grave desecration and dismemberment

Authorities in Paraíba are investigating the desecration of a grave at the São José Cemetery in Cruz das Armas, João Pessoa. The body of 22-year-old Jonailton José Venâncio da Costa, who was shot and killed on October 10, was reportedly disinterred, dismembered, and partially burned.

A human head was discovered inside a school backpack in the Colinas do Sul neighborhood. Forensic experts from the Instituto de Polícia Científica da Paraíba (IPC-PB) are conducting examinations to confirm if the remains belong to Venâncio.

In a separate incident in Minas Gerais, a 32-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were detained in Contagem after a human skull was found in a plastic bag at the Bom Jesus Cemetery. The suspects were released after paying bail while investigations continue.
