Contagem Mayor Aligns with Evangelical Leaders for 2026 Marcha para Jesus

Mayor Ricardo Faria of Contagem met with evangelical leaders and the event’s pastoral committee to finalize preparations for the Marcha para Jesus scheduled for 19 September 2026. The meeting reviewed mobilization strategies, safety measures and the program, which will begin at Praça Rio Volga, include a procession along Avenida Francisco Firmo de Matos to the Sambódromo, and conclude with a gospel concert. The mayor highlighted the churches’ social contributions, such as support for addiction recovery, family strengthening and cultural activities, framing the march as a celebration of faith and community development.

The event, officially part of Contagem’s calendar since 2011, is expected to draw thousands of participants and will feature prophetic acts in eight city regions, a prayer gathering, and performances by Christian bands.
