Contec launches Wi-Fi HaLow remote I/O units for long-range wireless control
Contec has released two new modular remote I/O coupler units, the CPSN-MCB271AH-1-041 and CPSN-MCB271AH-1-081, which support the IEEE 802.11ah (Wi-Fi HaLow) wireless standard. Utilizing the 920MHz band, these devices are designed to provide wireless communication over distances of approximately 1km in line-of-sight environments.
The 920MHz frequency offers superior signal propagation and obstacle penetration compared to 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands, making it suitable for areas where wired LAN installation is difficult. The units are intended for use in factories, plants, social infrastructure, farms, and aquaculture facilities where equipment is widely dispersed.
The products feature modular slots that allow for the tool-less installation and removal of various I/O modules, including digital I/O, analog input, pressure, and temperature sensors. They support industrial communication protocols such as Modbus-TCP and include functions for MQTT, SNMP, and REST API. Drivers are provided for both Windows and Linux environments.
