Contemporary circus performances showcase acrobatic virtuosity
Recent circus productions have highlighted a blend of diverse disciplines, ranging from hip-hop and magic to high-level acrobatics. In Kader Attou’s production with Compagnie Accrorap, the performance integrates burlesque, hip-hop, and acrobatics, drawing inspiration from silent film icons like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. The show utilizes inventive scenography and magical elements to create a cinematic atmosphere.
In another production, Cirque Éloize presented ‘Évolution’ at the Théâtre Capitole. This 75-minute performance features an urban-themed industrial setting, incorporating various disciplines such as bicycle trial, Chinese pole, Cyr wheel, aerial hoops, and hand-to-hand balancing. The show emphasizes physical mastery and precision within a modular scenography reminiscent of an abandoned industrial site.
