Contemporary dance festivals celebrate milestones in Panama and Spain

The PRISMA International Contemporary Dance Festival in Panama is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a special program running from August 31 to September 27. The festival features a diverse lineup of companies and choreographers from Europe, Ibero-America, and Panama, including opening performances by tanzmainz from Germany and a closing show by Gauthier Dance.

In addition to stage performances, the festival includes masterclasses, creation residencies, and public interventions at venues such as the National Theater and the Museum of Contemporary Art. The event aims to foster professional training and cultural exchange between international artists and the local community.

Meanwhile, in Spain, Centro Danza Matadero and Cineteca are hosting a dedicated cycle from September 5 to 12 honoring the work of Franco-Belgian choreographer Damien Jalet. The program explores Jalet’s influence across film, music videos, and contemporary dance, featuring screenings of works like ‘Suspiria’ (2018) and ‘Emilia Pérez’ (2024), alongside a choreographic workshop.
