Continental launches CrossContact A/T2 all-terrain tyres in Australia
Continental has launched the CrossContact A/T2 all-terrain tyre in the Australian market. Designed to provide a 50:50 balance between on-road comfort and off-road capability, the new tyre features heavy-duty ‘LT’ construction in most sizes to enhance rigidity and durability through reinforced sidewalls and tougher bead cores.
The product utilizes the company’s new ‘BlackPaw Compound’, an advanced polymer engineered to remain flexible across various temperatures and wet conditions to maintain grip on tarmac, gravel, and rock. Development and testing for the Australian market were largely conducted at Continental’s proving ground in Texas.
Compared to the previous AX6 ‘mild-terrain’ model, the A/T2 offers 13 per cent more off-road traction, 10 per cent more mileage, and increased tread depth. The tyre is available in over 30 sizes ranging from 15 to 20 inches, featuring self-cleaning open shoulders to assist with debris evacuation and handling in low-traction environments.
