Continental urges Portuguese drivers to check tires before summer road trips

Continental warns motorists in Portugal to perform basic vehicle checks ahead of the summer holiday travel surge. The company advises confirming tyre pressure on cold tyres, inspecting tread wear, cuts or deformations, and verifying engine oil, coolant and brake‑fluid levels. Nuno Rebelo, Head of Marketing Analytics for Portugal & Spain at Continental, stresses that tyres are the sole contact point with the road and vital for braking, stability and control.

During the journey drivers should adopt smooth driving, avoid rapid acceleration and harsh braking, and, where possible, schedule long trips for cooler periods of the day. In areas affected by fires, speed should be reduced, hazard lights used, windows kept closed and the ventilation set to recirculate. Following authority instructions is essential for safety.
