Contra Costa College faces scrutiny over viral Trump piñata video

A viral video from Contra Costa College in San Pablo, California, shows students destroying a piñata depicting Donald Trump. The footage, which surfaced recently via Libs of TikTok despite reportedly occurring several months ago, shows a blindfolded individual striking the piñata—which was wearing a red baseball cap and holding a sign reading ‘F— ICE’—until its head was removed. Onlookers were seen cheering as the decapitated figure was raised in the air.

Lorena Gonzalez, a counselor at the college, was identified in the video as appearing to celebrate the act. In response to the footage, Contra Costa College issued a statement asserting that they ‘do not condone or allow violent political rhetoric’ and noted that the incident is being ‘addressed as a personnel matter.’

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle condemned the actions, stating that anyone endorsing ‘assassination culture must be condemned in the harshest terms possible.’ Neither Gonzalez nor college representatives immediately responded to follow-up requests for comment.
