Contrada di Poggiolo wins 'A Tavola con il Nobile' culinary prize
The Contrada di Poggiolo won the 24th edition of the 'A Tavola con il Nobile' food and wine prize held in Montepulciano. The winning entry was 'Zuppa di piccione in crosta' (Pigeon soup in crust).
Promoted by the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in collaboration with the Magistrato delle Contrade, the competition concluded on August 23. This year's theme honored the 400th anniversary of the birth of poet and scientist Francesco Redi, focusing on slow-cooked cuisine in earthenware vessels.
The Contrada di Voltaia secured second place and received a special jury prize for its recipe, 'Ogni coccio per la coda è il re,' for its adherence to the theme. The Contrada di San Donato took third place with 'Ossobuco di Chianina al coccio.'
