Contran extends validity for CNH and ACC licenses in Brazil

The National Traffic Council (Contran) has extended the validity period for National Driver's Licenses (CNH) and Moped Driving Authorizations (ACC) across Brazil. Drivers with documents set to expire between June 5 and December 8, 2026, now have a unified expiration date of December 9, 2026.

This extension is automatic and requires no administrative action or appeals from the driver. It applies even if the printed date on the physical document has already passed. However, the measure does not apply to individuals whose driving privileges have been suspended or revoked.

The Ministry of Transport stated that this temporary measure is necessary due to operational and systemic adjustments required by recent changes in issuance and renewal laws. These changes involve the integration of systems between Senatran and state-level Detrans to ensure proper driver identification and data processing.
