Controcorrente and Progetto Civico Italia launch new political alliance in Agrigento

The political movement Controcorrente and Progetto Civico Italia have launched a new alliance during a summit in Agrigento, aimed at creating an alternative to the current regional government in Sicily and the national Meloni administration.

Ismaele La Vardera, founder of Controcorrente, presented the ‘Agrigento Model’ as a strategy to build a credible progressive coalition, which the movement intends to replicate at both regional and national levels. The alliance seeks to position itself within the ‘campo largo’ (broad field) to challenge existing political structures.

During the event, the movement outlined ten priorities for the next President of the Sicilian Region, covering sectors such as healthcare, infrastructure, and transport. The summit also featured discussions with figures like Alessandro Onorato and served as a platform for potential dialogue with politicians currently in crisis with the Schifani administration.
