Control Yuan investigates Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an’s son

The Control Yuan has initiated a preliminary investigation into the application of Chiang Wan-an’s son, Chiang Te-li, to participate in an exchange student program in the United States. Despite the Control Yuan currently lacking official commissioners, it has reportedly contacted the Taipei City Education Bureau's inspection office to begin inquiry procedures.

The Kuomintang (KMT) has criticized the move as politically motivated. KMT spokesperson Chen Yi-hsin accused the Control Yuan of applying double standards, questioning why the agency is acting swiftly regarding the son of the Taipei Mayor while failing to investigate previous allegations involving the family of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) figures, specifically regarding investment controversies involving Su Chiao-chun.
