Controversy over female leadership at Tamaulipas Law Faculty

A controversy has emerged regarding the leadership selection process at the Faculty of Law in Victoria, part of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas. A journalist and lawyer recently used social media to promote the candidacy of three female professors for the faculty directorship, utilizing the slogan ‘Es tiempo de mujeres’ (It is a time for women) to argue that female representation is a matter of historical justice.

The social media posts included allegations that the current director of the Faculty of Law is blocking female candidates from seeking the position. Critics of the social media campaign suggest that such claims lack sufficient evidence and note that any faculty member, regardless of gender, has the legal standing to pursue formal complaints through official institutional channels if they believe aspirations are being obstructed.
