Convento de Cristo restoration progresses in Tomar

Restoration works at the Convento de Cristo in Tomar, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), are nearing completion for several key areas. The Santa Bárbara, D. João III, and Lavagem cloisters are expected to reopen to the public within the month.

The Terreiro de Armas is scheduled to reopen in October. While some projects, such as those at the Pátio da Botica, fall outside the initial PRR timeframe and are being handled through different programs, officials aim to finalize current interventions by the end of the year.

João Soalheiro, president of Património Cultural, noted that certain aspects of the project, specifically regarding the Paço Henriquino, required adjustments and a reduction in the scope of the original four-million-euro contract to ensure the monument's preservation.
