Cooke Optics adds Nikon Z-mount to AP3 and SP3 cinema lens lineup
Cooke Optics announced that its SP3 and AP3 cinema prime lens series are now available for Nikon Z‑mount cameras. The lenses, previously offered with interchangeable mounts for Sony E, Canon RF, L‑Mount and Leica M, can be ordered for the Z‑mount at no extra cost, allowing use on Nikon Z mirrorless bodies and RED Z cameras.
The SP3 series comprises full‑frame primes of 18 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm, 50 mm, 75 mm and 100 mm with a T2.4 aperture, priced around €4,500 each. The newer AP3 series provides 1.5× anamorphic primes at 35 mm, 50 mm and 85 mm, also with a T2.4 aperture and a higher price point. CEO Tim Pugh said the expansion “democratizes” cinematic glass, giving more directors of photography access to the distinctive “Cooke Look.” The move follows Nikon’s recent legal dispute over Z‑mount licensing, adding a prominent cinema‑lens partner to the mount’s ecosystem.
