Cookie Queens documentary underperforms at US box office
The documentary ‘Cookie Queens’, executive produced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle through Archewell Productions, has seen a disappointing box office performance in the United States. The 91-minute film, directed by Alysa Nahmias, follows the annual tradition of US Girl Scouts selling cookies to raise funds.
Despite a 92 per cent positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film earned less than £250,000 across 446 cinemas, failing to reach the top ten releases. In a notable box office comparison, the documentary was outperformed by ‘CatVideoFest 2026’, a compilation of internet cat videos, which earned approximately £421,000 in fewer locations.
Critics have offered mixed reviews, with some describing the project as a ‘sweet but staged reality show ramble’. The film previously aired at the Sundance Film Festival in January. This underwhelming commercial reception follows the downgrade of the couple’s Netflix deal from a major contract to a ‘first look’ agreement last year.
