From 1 August 2026 the price of gasoline and diesel in Spain will rise by about five euro‑cents per litre, taking fuel costs to roughly €1.67 / l for gasoline 95, €1.84 / l for gasoline 98 and €1.77 / l for diesel – a year‑on‑year increase of around 22 %. The rise follows the government’s reduction of the fuel discount from 15 cents to 10 cents per litre, a measure introduced in a decree that cites higher energy costs linked to the war in Iran. On 31 July 2026 the average national prices were €1.67, €1.84 and €1.77 respectively, while some stations such as Costco, Alcampo, Ballenoil and others offered fuel below the national average. Midas Spain warns that the higher prices will strain drivers’ vacation budgets and advises six driving and maintenance habits that can cut fuel consumption by up to 15 %, helping motorists mitigate the impact of the price hike.
