Coomera Hospital construction advances with 600-bed facility

Construction is advancing on the new 600-bed Coomera Hospital, designed to support the rapidly growing population of the northern Gold Coast. Multiplex has been appointed as the major contractor for the project.

Major foundation works are currently underway, including bulk earthworks, retaining works, concrete pours, and the remodeling of existing structures. The facility will feature a 12-storey Clinical Services Building housing an emergency department, intensive care, operating theatres, mental health services, maternity and paediatric care, pathology, and renal services.

The project is part of the Queensland Government’s Hospital Rescue Plan, which aims to deliver more than 2,600 additional beds and three new hospitals across the state. Local healthcare professionals noted that the facility will reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for medical treatment and will help address the needs of an increasingly diverse community.
